Carlos Enrique Arroyo Ortiz is a professor and researcher at the Department of Mining Engineering, and coordinates the LPLM Mine Mining Laboratory at the School of Mines – UFOP.
He is a mining engineer from UNSAAC, Peru (2003), holds an M.Sc. in Mining (2008) and a PhD in Geosciences (2014), both from the School of Mines of the Federal University of Ouro Preto.

John Chiarelli Jr.

João Chiarelli Jr. is currently the General Manager of Dyno Nobel’s Latin American Operations. His customer-centric focus was developed early in his career when he joined ICI in 1978 as a technical service representative. His career at ICI has progressively evolved through Production, Sales, Marketing and General Management including international experience in South Africa, Chile and Canada.
His 44 years of experience in the explosives industry is strongly associated with the introduction of Pumped Bulk Explosives in Brazil and other parts of the world. In 1989, he assumed leadership of the Pumped Explosives division in Canada where he operated 12 production bases serving over 17 major mining companies.
Em 1993 tornou-se o primeiro presidente não expatriado da ICI Explosives no Brasil e no Chile e em 1995 o primeiro Gerente Geral da ICI Explosives na América Latina. É formado em Engenharia Civil pela Universidade Mackenzie em São Paulo, Brasil, e continuou sua educação no Templeton College em Oxford, Reino Unido e mais tarde na INSEAD na França.

Johan holds a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Danish University of Technology (DTU) since 2004, as well as
as a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA) Management and Organization from Copenhagen Business School. Johan works as Strategic Partnerships Manager at Sigicom, where his focus is on innovation and the international market, helping Sigicom to remain one of the leading innovative producers of hardware and software for environmental monitoring.
He has worked for over 12 years with a leading Danish multidisciplinary consultancy. During his years as a consultant Johan has worked extensively with environmental impacts such as vibration, noise and dust from various sources, among others, blasting during civil works and demolition with explosives. As a consultant Johan has also worked with demining worldwide as well as physical blast protection. In addition he has taught in noise and vibration monitoring during blasting. While working as a consultant Johan has also gained extensive experience with innovation and project management and development.
Johan has been a member of the Danish Federation of Explosives Engineers (DFEE) since 2006 and is currently the organization’s vice-president. In 2007 he became the Danish envoy to the EFEE and since 2009 he has been a member of the Board.
At EFEE Johan has been chairman of several committees and was vice-chairman from 2011-2014 and chairman from 2014-2016. Currently Johan focuses on the EFEE environmental committee. He has been part of the EFEE Technical Conference committee since the 9th EFEE World Conference on Explosives and Explosives.
Johan has been appointed Director of ISEE since the beginning of 2020, where he co-chairs the ISEE Standards Committee and the International Committee, as well as being part of several other ISEE committees.

Dr. Paul N. Worsey
Professor Emeritus responsible for building the Explosives Engineering program at S&T
He has taught over 100 short blasting and explosives courses worldwide and is a consultant in this field.
Professor Emeritus Paul Worsey partially retired in 2019 after 38 years of teaching and research in the Department of Mining Engineering at Missouri S&T. He served as Associate Chair of Explosives Engineering in the department and Director of the department’s Experimental Mine. Paul was responsible for building the Explosives Engineering program at S&T, including M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Explosives Engineering and Explosives Technology, with over 120 master’s degrees and 10 doctoral degrees in the past 12 years. This program offers over 20 courses related to rock blasting, explosives, and pyrotechnics, many of which were developed by Professor Worsey.
Paul has also taught over 100 short blasting and explosives courses worldwide and is a consultant in this field. He is a recipient of the ISEE President's Award and the Industry Service Award. The President of Dyno Americas was his student, teaching assistant, and graduate student.
